Bike-Vault announced it has signed Bobby to an endorsement deal …
AUGUST 09, 2006 — RENO, NV—Bike-Vault yesterday inked a deal with American professional cyclist Bobby Julich to a personal endorsement contract. Julich will act as Bike-Vault’s spokesperson during the launch of the company’s keyless locking storage system for bicycles that uses microprocessor technology.
“I have been approached by many companies in the past to endorse their products. However, I have never lent my name or image to a product I did not truly believe in,” said Julich. “In my opinion, the Bike Vault will give all of us who have a great deal of money invested into our bicycles peace of mind when we put it away after a ride.”
The Bike-Vault features safeguards such as 13-gauge cold rolled stainless steel construction resistant to tampering, remote electronic access, sensors and alarms. The lock has no keyholes or other points of structural weakness, according to the company’s product description.
“When I first set out to find a spokesperson for our product, I was determined to find someone who had a passion for bicycles and is always looking for a technological advantage,” said Kane Dutt, president and chief executive officer of Bike-Vault. “Bobby’s love for cycling and his determination to find the best possible equipment make him the perfect person to represent our product and company.”
ESPN.com has posted comments from Bobby on Floyd Landis.
Instead of an open-and-shut case that Floyd’s “A” sample and “B” sample are positive, now he has the ability to protest that finding; and it’s going to take months. So this is going to be ongoing, and maybe every week or two there’s going to be something else in the news about this situation, making our sport look even worse.
Bobby finished the Tour of Germany in 69th place overall, and teammate Jens Voigt took the well deserved overall title after winning three stages.
Bobby finished 74th in the opener for the Tour of Germany, 30 seconds off the time of Discovery’s Vladimir Gusev. There is a photo of Bobby at cyclingnews.com.
Bobby was back in action last Saturday at the LuK Challenge – Bühl Time Trial where he teamed up with Jens Voigt to try and defend their wins in the previous two years. This time they finished 6th.
