Training in the wind in Nevada

Bobby was in Reno for the holidays and trained in some severe wind conditions. Check out the article that shows trucks that were blown off the road. Bobby was quoted in the story …

Galena resident Bobby Julich bicycled along Callahan Ranch road Tuesday.

“I was having to ride at a 45-degree angle to keep it on the road,” Julich said. “You just have to keep smiling and keep at it.

“It’s pretty amazing how strong this wind can blow.”

South Africa Camp

Bobby in South Africa

Bobby is in South Africa participating in Team CSC’s “survival camp”. Photos from the camp are now online in the Team CSC photo gallery. Report from Team CSC …

[10.12 16:45] Friday night the possibly most important part of the ongoing team training trip in South Africa was over. The traditional December event means so much for the team and Friday three days of ”survival training” in the harsh South African winderness was over with. For the seventh time team trainer B.S. Christiansen was the man behind these tests.

Afterwards there was a general feeling, that the trip gave some very positive vibrations which was absolutely impeccable.

”I am sure the team spirit on this team scares the other teams. I have seen a lot of riders from other teams look at us with huge respect and intimidation because of the team spirit that was glowing from us – well, I even did so myself before I came to the team,” Karsten Kroon explained during the trip.

”If you know yourself and your team mates this well, it gives you an opportunity to take advantage of the resources available on the team – especially when trouble arise at the worst possible time. That is when the team will be able to use the experiences and information gathered from this trip. It is like packing a back sack with extra power for the roads,” said B.S. Christiansen.

The Team training will continue on in the next days, but with a different program and a possibility for the riders to enjoy the sun on the South African roads.

In our gallery section you will find a lot of pictures from the trip and i twill be updated with more pictures from the trip. If you are a member of the Team CSC Official Fan Club, you will also have a possibility to read a blog from the trip.

Bobby J: Champing at Bit to Get Back in Saddle

There was a nice article on the Team CSC web site about Bobby …

After a long break from competition that included the birth of a brand-new baby daughter, Team CSC’s Bobby Julich can’t wait to get back to the business of racing bikes.

The veteran American has been in his Philadelphia home since late August after he pulled the plug on a frustrating season. His spirits have since been lifted with the safe arrival of the couple’s second daughter.

Now the 35-year-old is preparing for what could be his final season as a professional. With his contract up at the end of the 2007 season, Julich has some unfinished business. He’s still dreaming of capturing the yellow jersey at the Tour de France and winning an Olympic gold medal.

CSC.com caught up with Julich as he enjoys the final days of his off-season. With the team’s “boot camp” set for South Africa in December and the new racing season just around the corner, Julich reflected on the 2006 season and why he still loves competition.

csc.com: You’ve had a busy off-season with the birth of a new baby girl. Is it difficult to maintain the training and dedication you need to prepare for the 2007 season?

BJ: We had a new baby seven weeks ago and I’ve been here the whole time. We haven’t gone on any sort of vacation except one weekend with some of my buddies to play golf. Being home has been good because for the first time since I was probably a junior I’ve been able to start a weight-training program and have the time to go through all the phases. I didn’t have to crunch it down in one or two-week increments, because when you race into October, you really don’t even have an off-season before you have to start training again. I started training in mid-September, doing some inline skating. I feel good and fresh and I am looking forward to the 2007 season.
